Still waiting for my Bee book to arrive from Amazon, so I needed help from BWARS and iRecord for this one. It's a species of bee called - Halictus rubicundus. Not particularly rare but at least a new one for me. BWARS states that it nests in bare sloping ground with a southerly aspect and this is exactly how I found it digging a hole. When the book arrives I hope to be able to identify a lot more species while out looking for hoverflies as they usually go hand in hand together.
