Tir-Iarll Park, Cwmfelin - part 1

Warm and sunny at 21c with only a light wind and the insects were out in numbers. I recorded 37 species of Hoverfly, the best so far this year. Highlights included Leucozona glaucia, Leucozona glaucia, Eristalis intricaria, Myathropa florea, Merodon equestris, Sericomyia silentis, Volucella bombylans, Volucella pellucens, Criorhina berberina (including variation oxycacanthae) and Xylota sylvarum. Also took 6 specimens to be determined at the end of year by HRS, I think the Platycheirus I took is new.

Cheilosia illustrata - over 100 present on Hogweed
 Criorhina berberina - variation oxyacanthae
 Criorhina berberina - typical form
 Leucozona laternaria
 Meliscaeva auricollis
