where do u get the psilota mart? any particular plant they favour ive been checking all the small jobs but no joy and are the cheilosia doable by eye or do u pot them thanks
hell of a day btw
Psilota are fond of umbellifers particularly Ground Elder and Hemlock water droplet near forestry spruce plantation but some times ancient broad-leaved woodland. The one I had this day was on Hemlock and was seen in the flower ridden central field I will send you a map photo of the exact place, it is hoverfly heaven, I have now recorded Psilota from Gilfach (west), Top Llangynwyd, Lletty Brongu woods and Blaencaerau, they are doable from photos as long as you get a side view with open wings. With the Cheilosia most are photographs but some like antiqua and vernalis today have to be potted and looked at with an eye lens 20x mag.
thanks for that mart
